As we celebrate International Women’s Day this March it felt like the perfect opportunity to shine a light on some of the incredible female winemakers we work with. Producing world beating, planet friendly wines is no mean feat. Taking passion, dedication and sacrifice. Here’s some of the amazing women behind our wines…
Bodegas AltoLandon is one of the highest altitude wineries in the country. Rosalia’s mission is to make wines that show off this unique area of Spain by embracing organic winemaking. By removing any chemicals in the vineyard, Rosalia is able to craft wines that are truly shaped by the land, weather and boundary-pushing altitude of her estate.
With the vineyard’s location being so difficult, many thought Rosalia was out of her mind for choosing it. But, confident in her ability, Rosalia took on the task of transforming the land into a thriving vineyard. Not only has she achieved this impressive feat, but Rosalia has achieved certified organic status (a process that takes years of hard work) and promotes biodiversity across the estate. Keeping sustainability at the heart of everything she does, her next project is for AltoLandon to become 100% natural with zero carbon emissions.

She demands high quality vines and fruit to ensure her team is able to create fantastic wines that live up to the region’s fierce reputation for great Portuguese wine.

As the third generation of winemakers at Familia Pacheco, sisters Elena & Emily have taken the winery into the 21st Century.
Widely considered to be one of the best wineries in Jumilla, Viña Elena is very much a family affair with Elena at the helm supported ably by her mother, sister & children. A family run certified organic winery, Bodegas Viña Elena is a member of the ‘Consejo de Agricultura Ecológica de la Región de Murcia’ (Organic Agriculture Council of the Region of Murcia). Their Mourvedre is possibly one of our favourite, ever, reds.
