WE’RE THE GOOD GUYS
Some will tell you that good wine has to have generations of expertise, tradition & heritage. They’ll look down their nose & pontificate on the aromas. Others will tell you that as long as it’s cheap it’s good. We’re here to tell you there’s a damn fine place in the middle, where wine not only tastes great, but has a great effect on you, the people who made it & our planet.
Sure we’ve got some ‘expertise’ but that’s not relevant. Wine is about enjoying what you like and if we can help you to do that - little else matters.
GOOD FOR CUSTOMERS
No not in that way...but there are some other important ways. 86% of UK 'regular' wine drinkers consume less than 3 types of wine! We think that's a BIG shame. We get the world of wine can be vast & daunting, and there's nothing worse than buyers remorse, so we're here to help.
We pick wines that we like, and that we know you'll like too. Wines for drinking - right now. If you want to swirl & slurp that’s great, if it’s going with Wednesday night’s spag bol, that’s great too! However you get your enjoyment from wine, we can personally guarantee ours will fit the bill. Check out our good wine guarantee. If you don't enjoy one of our wines we'll give you your money back in wine tokens to spend on something else.
GOOD FOR PRODUCERS
Yes you did hear us right. From your average £5 bottle of supermarket plonk, just 31p goes towards the juice in the bottle & the guys that produced it. That’s after tax, duty, packaging, logistics & of course the retailers profit. You might say ‘Hey guys, but I love my favourite £5 merlot..’ and we get that, we’ve been known to sink a couple too. But just like fairtrade coffee or free range eggs, a little extra goes a long way.
£6 a bottle (the UK average spend) straight away sees that juice money jump to 94p a bottle (many of the other costs are fixed) - once you get to £7 you're looking at around £1.40. But £8-9 a bottle gets you a thirst quenching £2.50 of juice for every bottle. That's 8 times as much on the vino for only an extra £3!
Wine is a farmed product, just like milk or eggs. Produced by people, with families. So ask yourself this: How much love, passion & hard work would you put into wine that pays you 31p a bottle compared to wine that pays you £2.50 a bottle? It’s a no brainer right?
GOOD FOR THE PLANET
Planting 1 tree offsets the entire carbon footprint (that's farming, production, bottling, shipping & your delivery) of 8 cases of Smashed Grapes wine. So that is exactly what we do. By teaming up with Ecologi we plant enough trees, everyday, to proudly say we are 100% Carbon Neutral*. We’re actually a bit ahead, that’s Carbon Negative! So you can be sure that every sip has benefited our planet. You can check out our progress with Ecologi & the projects we’ve helped support right here.
*oh yeah - and did we mention that all of our packaging is recycled & recyclable. That goes without saying - but we did anyway!
